Down Command

The “Down” can be done many, many, many ways.

The simplest way of teaching the “down” is when the dog is in the “sit”.

After we ask the dog to “sit’ we can then apply the lure to the dog and instead of going up. we are going to go down to the floor, and we are going to hold it there until the dog goes into a down position. Once the dog is in the “down” we can mark and reward!

Some dogs may take a minute to figure this one out. Sometimes when we lure the dog into a “down” the dog might stand up, or lift his butt back in the air. Which is “okay”. Don’t reward if any of this happens. Just reset, ask for the sit and then lure the dogs head down again.
